The Big Day for Teachers is a College Football Playoff initiative in which hardworking teachers are honored and celebrated across the country. On September 20, the LA Bowl recognized Adrian Gonzalez from Morningside High School on The Big Day for Teachers. Honorees were welcomed to a pregame tailgate and an on-field recognition during the third quarter. This year, the CFP foundation celebrated 23 Los Angeles teachers and educators. Extra Yard For Teachers is College Football Playoff’s primary initiative to support, recognize, and honor teachers across conferences, universities, and bowl games. In conjunction with CFP Foundation’s annual Extra Yard for Teachers week, LA Bowl headed to the University of Southern California for its game against Fresno State to honor local educators. Each organization received a donation from the Hollywood Park Foundation towards their youth programming. Elementary and middle school students from One For All, Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro LA, and Boys and Girls Club of the LA Harbor were invited to celebrate the kickoff of college football with field activities at SoFi Stadium. The panelists highlighted events that will be open to the public and exciting community initiatives throughout the college football season.
